Trivia Contest

Ah the Trivia Contest, where each year we look for the most knowledgeable of those in the Sci/Fi, Anime, Fantasy, Video Game, Manga, and Comic realms. As with all previous years, The first round of the Trivia Contest is open to any and every convention goer who can assemble a team of 2 to 6 people. Many times teams are formed only minutes before Round 1, which is cool btw.

Round 1 - The Questionaire - all teams are given a quiz, from this quiz, which will reach throughout the realms of knowledge, we find our top 4 teams. Don't worry about being able to answer all the questions, no one has ever answered all the questions.

Round 2 - Buzzer Rounds - 30 questions, visual puzzlers, and lightning rounds worth points to your teams. Each Team member will have a buzzer in hand, after the question is asked first to buzz in gets the chance to answer first. After the 4 teams have squared off, only 2 will remain.

Round 3 Final Round - Round style will be identical to Round 2, buzzer style, with questions, visual games, and more. The winner of that round gets bragging rights for a year, and a prize pack. May the best Geek Win

P.S. Everyone always asks where the questions will come from, well here are a few of the examples of where questions have come from in years past: Star Wars, Sailor Moon, X-Men, Halo 3, Hello Kitty, Star Trek, My Neighbor Totoro, Stargate, Cowboy BeBop, Gundam (all series), Zelda, Pok e mans, Evangelion, Melon of Haruhi, Godzilla, Power Rangers, Spider Man, Recent Sci Fi and Fantasy Classics that you would have seen at the theater in the last year, etc, etc. So there is your answer.

And if you want to know what Rounds 2 and 3 will be like you can check out this old video from a few years back, though this one was Anime Only

AMV Contest

Category's

  • Action

  • Comedy

  • Romance

  • Drama

  • Fun/Other*

  • Live Action**

* Fun/Other would be a category that does not fit well in any of the other category's.

** This is a new Category for us and to be honest we are not sure how it will do. As for what is acceptable Well any thing from Sailor Moon live action to the Matrix, as long as it is live footage of real people then its good to go.

- RUN TIME: AMV's May not be longer than 6 min. (Please do not do an AMV to “The Wall”, it might be the greatest thing in the world, but submit it as an idea for Film and Video screening.)

- FOOTAGE: Video Game footage is acceptable. (Final Fanyasy, Kingdom Hearts, Parasite Eve etc)

- MULTIPLE ENTRY'S: Contestants are allowed to enter one (1) AMV per category, so one person could have a total of six (6) AMV Entry's.

- RATING: Keep it PG-13, this goes for music as well. (No hentai, overly violent. Bible Black, Elfen Laid etc. Cannibal Corpse, Slayer etc. )

- MUSIC DURATION: 75% of the AMV must be set to music. (excluding the Fun/Other)

- DEADLINE: All AMV's may be turned in to the registration desk at the convention, but must be in our hands by close of registration on Friday of the convention with a complete AMV Form.

- JUDGING: AMV's will be awarded best in class (one award for each category.) and an overall best in show award.

FORMATING: AMV's must be sent in, in one of the following formats:

DVD w/Region 0 or 1

AVI format.

MP4 format

- MAIL IN: Please send all AMV to the following address with a complete AMV Form. Please use one (1) entry for per AMV. It helps us keep them organized.

Crisiscon AMV Contest

508, 12th Ave S.W.
Attalla, AL 35954

- SUBMISSION FORM: Each AMV entry buts have a Crisiscon AMV Contests Entry Form. Click here to get the form.

- FINAL THOUGH: Its not a rule but more of a suggestion, I know it can be hard to find anime without subtitles or titles, but it does distract from the overall feel of the AMV when titles and subs pop up in an AMV.
